The song peaked at number one on the European Hot 100 Singles chart in addition to doing so in many different countries. The song was also successful in North America. On April 1, 2010, “Alors on danse” was released in Canada, and it was played on the radio in Québec by NRJ Radio stations all over the province as well as CKOI-FM.
Within four months of the album’s debut in Europe, nearly one million copies had already been sold. The song was on the German Singles Chart for 57 weeks, making it the 40th song to spend one year or longer on that chart and the song with the 31st longest run. According to information provided by Francophonie Diffusion, “Alors on danse” was the single released by a Francophone artist that was played the most around the world in 2010.
It was the 83rd best-selling single of the 21st century in France as of July 2014, with 334,000 units sold, making it the country’s best-selling song of the decade.
The song was later covered by various artists, such as Pitbull, who released it under the name “Guantanamera.” In March of 2010, the American vocalist Lumidee and the American rapper Chase Manhattan collaborated to produce a cover version of the song.
May of 2010 saw the release of an instrumental remix by DJ Petro Panayoti, which was hosted at Byblos Club Africa. August of 2010, meanwhile, was the release of a remix that was collaborated on by Kanye West and Gilbere Forte.
The song was also sampled by British DJs and producers Joel Corry and Jax Jones for their track “Out Out,” which was released in 2021 and featured American rapper Saweetie and English vocalist Charli XCX.
“Alors on danse” has become such a well-loved French song that it was even featured at the NATO summit that took place in Brussels in July 2018.
A group of saxophonists led by soloist Stéphane Mercier performed an arrangement of the song at the Arcade du Cinquantenaire.
Then in May of 2019, the official release of Dubdogz’s remix was made available through Musical Freedom. The song is featured in the episode “The Gospel of Josephine,” which airs in the sixth season of “The 100.”
Alors On Danse French Lyrics
Alors on
Alors on
Alors on
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on chante
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
Alors on chante
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
Alors on chante
Alors on chante
Et puis seulement quand c’est fini
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Alors on danse
Et ben y en a encore
Et ben y en a encore
Et ben y en a encore
Et ben y en a encore
Et ben y en a encore

English Lyrics and Translation
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
Who says study, says work
Who says work, says money
Who says money, says expenses
Who says credit, says debt
Who says debt,says bailiff
Yes, also says being in shit
Who says love, says kids
Says forever and says divorce
Who says peers says mourning because problems never come alone
Who says crisis says world
says 3th world hunger
Who says fatigue, says waking
deaf from yesterday
So we party to forget the
problems
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
And then you say it’s over, because worse
than this only death
When you believe you’ll exit this
When there is more
and even more
Ectasy means problems
Problems or music
It grabs your guts and grabs
your head and you pray for it
to end
But it’s your body, not the heavens
it’s your mouth and your ears.
And then you scream harder but
it won’t stop
So we sing: Lalalalalala,
Lalalalalala…
So we sing: Lalalalalala,
Lalalalalala…
So we sing
So we sing
And only when it ends,
we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
So we dance
But wait, there’s more
But wait, there’s more
But wait, there’s more
But wait, there’s more
But wait, there’s more
