8 Most Expensive Chanel Handbags As Of 2024

Do you want to know the most expensive Chanel handbags as of 2024?

Every woman does dream of having at least one Chanel bag. Why not? Chanel is one of the best French handbag brands around. However, for most, carrying a Chanel purse stays just a dream; only the top 1% can actually afford an expensive Chanel handbag.

While some women carry handbags to contain their personal belongings, some do it as a status symbol. And Chanel bags are some of the world’s most sought-after not just for their quality and craftsmanship, but for the prestige that comes with the brand name as well.

The House of Chanel, which specializes in women’s high fashion and luxury goods, was founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel with her business partner Pierre Wertheimer in 1910.

However, Chanel bags were not sold until 1929, prompted by Coco Chanel becoming tired of having to carry her handbags in her arms. Chanel decided to design a handbag that would free up her hands.

The shoulder-carried version – Chanel 2.55 – was inspired by the straps on soldiers’ bags. It debuted in the market in early 1955, hence the 2.55 name. And the rest is history.

As the name suggests, the Diamond Forever is studded with diamonds – 334 pieces that weigh a total of 3.56 carats, encrusted over fine alligator skin. This extremely limited bag’s detachable strap is made of 18-karat white gold chain. Its clasp, made of the Chanel CC logo, is also in white gold.

In 2008, an ultra-luxurious version of the Chanel Diamond Forever was sold for charity for €300,000. The bag was designed by Karl Lagerfeld in collaboration with Madonna and was sold during the famous amfAR dinner auction in France.

Chanel Classic Handbag features the iconic chain in gold- or silver-tone metal interwoven with leather, the inimitable and timeless double “C” or CC clasp which is the famous seal of the House of Chanel, and pockets beneath the leather flap in the interior that also comes with a CC logo.
